Larry and Susan Lunt

Larry and Susan Lunt have spent a lifetime of service to their family, to their community, and to the Savior Jesus Christ.  Both were raised in Salt Lake City, and they met while attending the University of Utah.  Susan graduated with a degree in Business, and Larry graduated with a degree in Political Science and later a Law degree.  He started his career in private legal practice, but has spent much of the past three decades building successful businesses in real estate development and management, manufacturing, oil & gas development, and technology.

Not long after their marriage in the Salt Lake Temple, Larry entered the military as a pilot.  With Sue’s support, he remained in the military for 36 years, retiring as a Brigadier General and Commander of the Utah Air National Guard.  His involvement in politics and civic affairs includes service as chairman of the Utah Republican Party and later as an elected member of the Utah House of Representatives.  He is a past chairman of the Utah Alcohol Beverage Control Commission and past chairman of the board of trustees of Southern Utah University.  Susan was a remarkable mother to six children, and she was active in all levels of the PTA, including years as PTA President.

As a young man, Larry served a mission in the London England Mission.  Larry and Susan later served as the president and wife of the Kentucky Louisville Mission.  They returned to Kentucky twenty years later as the president and matron of the Louisville Kentucky Temple.  He has served as a bishop, as a counselor in a stake presidency, and as the first counselor in the Salt Lake Temple Presidency.  Larry loves the scriptures, and he spent almost two decades teaching courses on The Book of Mormon and on The New Testament at Brigham Young University in Provo and in Salt Lake City.  Susan is Larry’s equal in every sense of the word, and she has blessed others through her callings as a missionary, matron of the Kentucky Temple and assistant matron in the Salt Lake Temple, Relief Society President, and in a variety of callings in both the Young Women’s and Primary Organizations.

Larry and his wife Susan are parents of six children and twenty-five grandchildren.
