Living Prophets are Authenticators

False Signals ‑Pilots must be able to distinguish between authentic communications from authorized sources and false signals from the enemy.  

During the cold war as we flew in and out of West Germany there was a threat that the Soviets, by broadcasting false navigational signals, would lure our aircraft off course and into their territory. If we were to get into East German airspace there was a serious danger that we would be shot down.

Authentication Procedures and Codes ‑In these missions to and from West Germany we followed verification procedures and codes to make sure that we were receiving authentic signals and communications from a proper source. This insured that we did not follow false signals and communications which would lead us into hostile airspace.

Lesson for Life ‑Satan is our greatest enemy. He is a master deceiver. Satan continuously broadcasts false signals in an attempt to get us into his territory so that he can shoot us down, make us miserable, and destroy us.  

We sustain the First Presidency and the Quorum of Twelve as prophets, seers, and revelators. They authenticate and verify the many signals our society sends to us.  If we harken to their counsel we will be able to stay on the Lord's side and out of Satan's territory. In the booklet For the Strength of Youth the First Presidency has given us specific and inspired council in many important aspects of our lives. It is very important that we follow their council with exactness.

Testimony of Living Prophets ‑Our Prophet will never lead us astray. The Lord has given us a promise, "give heed unto all his words and commandments which he shall give unto you as he receiveth them, walking in all holiness before me; For his word ye shall receive, as if from mine own mouth, in all patience and faith. For by doing these things the gates of hell shall not prevail against you; yea, and the Lord God will disperse the powers of darkness from before you, and cause the heavens to shake for your good, and his name's glory" (D&C 21 :4‑6).

I testify that if we follow our Prophet and stay in the mainstream of the Church he will lead us to eternal life.
